  1. I remember well how R’ Hollander (a wonderful person) would attend every shiur of R’ Leiman and stay afterward to share his latest rare book discovery. A wonderful tribute. I do hope it will be recorded and posted to the internet.

  2. anyone have any idea if it will?

  3. Chaim Hollander

    Yes

  4. Only professor Leiman would have enough material to make a shiur like this intersting. I imagine the Maharal’s Non-Golem will make an appearance somewhere in the lecture

  5. While I am a huge fan of Dr. Leiman, and I certainly agree that he will make it interesting, I do not agree that only he could make it interesting. There is in fact mountains of material on this subject, much of it interesting, and in the allotted time Dr. Leiman could only scratch the surface, leaving room for more lectures on a subject such as this, using ample material from the mountains.

Perhaps we can rephrase Shaul Shapira’s point. While, as anonymous correctly states, there is a moutain of material on these matters, and further there are many indivduals who can speak about either the Haggadah and rabbinic interpretation or the Haggadah and history or the Haggadah and art, there are very very few who possess Dr. Leiman’s confluence of areas of expertise that enables him to speak about all three aspects of the Haggadah.

  7. I’ve received word that it will be recorded and, hopefully, posted. Kol HaKavod to all involved!

  8. Thanks, R. Gil, for posting the announcement. AMz”l was a huge fan of the Hirhurim blog and enjoyed reading your material and occasionally participating in the discussion threads. Looking forward to possibly meeting other Hirhurim readers Sunday night

  9. Anybody going from Brooklyn? Sounds interesting, but a long trip w/o a car (well, a long trip with a car, but my LOR makes the trip every day to Touro). thanbo at gee mail dot com

  10. Did anyone tape it?

  11. It was a great tribute to R A Hollander ZL , Yivadleinu Lchaim R D Leiman and our community that the YIKGH’s simcha hall was packed for the above referenced shiur which was a lecture via power point demonstration of the above suubjects. At the risk of being criticized for offering a quasi Hesped in Nisan, R Hollander ZL struck me as epitomizing R Moshe Besdin ZL’s view of “it and not about it”, and disdaining both the Charedi/ArtScroll catechism of viewing the world and the equally intellectually problematic view that it is not Asur then it has to be Mutar. R Hollander was a great Baal Midos, Baal Tefilah,Talmid Chacham and student of Jewish life. Yehi Zicro baruch.

  12. I have been sent a PDF of the slides, if anyone needs.

  13. Can you post a link to the slides?

  14. I’d like to see the slides too. I don’t know Nachum’s email addr.
