About Gil Student

Rabbi Gil Student is the Editor of, a leading website on Orthodox Jewish scholarly subjects, and the Book Editor of the Orthodox Union’s Jewish Action magazine. He writes a popular column on issues of Jewish law and thought featured in newspapers and magazines, including The Jewish Link, The Jewish Echo and The Vues. In the past, he has served as the President of the small Jewish publisher Yashar Books and as the Managing Editor of OU Press. Rabbi Student has served two terms on the Executive Committee of the Rabbinical Council of America and currently serves as the Director of the Halacha Commission of the Rabbinical Alliance of America.   1. Pre-Selichot Shiur at the Yavneh Minyan of Flatbush:
    Teshuvah – Bringing Hashem into our Lives

    Please join us THIS motzei Shabbat/early Sunday morning (Sept. 25) for a pre-selichot shiur to be led by Mordechai Schiffman.

    We are pleased to welcome Mr. Schiffman, who is currently in the RIETS Semicha Honors Program, and serving as Rabbinic Intern at Kingsway Jewish Center.

    The shiur will begin at 12:10 AM. Selichot will follow at 12:50 AM.

    Location: The Yavneh Minyan of Flatbush, at the Shulamith School: 1277 East 14th Street, Brooklyn, NY

    (Well, you did say shiurim. I figured that was carte blanche to post other pre-Slichos shiurim.)
