Shiur Hakdama-HaRav Asher Weiss

There are three models of halachic financial liabilities: avel (damages), tmura (you benefitted) and hitchayvut (obligated oneself). Where do shomrim fit in? Is a shomer’s obligation based on a standard set by the torah, what the average person perceives or some combination of these?

At what point does a shomer take on a responsibility (achrayut)? At what point are damages evaluated? Is the key question achrayut or pshia bshmira?

Last 2:45 provide great mussar about the current situation – if 10/7 hasn’t changed you, you either don’t believe or you don’t care!

Kinus Psichas Yarchei Kallah -HaRav Moshe Hillel Hirsch

Excellent mussar on midot and the need to understand what’s driving your bad ones. The best antidote is anivut (humility). Kach mkublani mbeit avi abba, “nothing is coming to you”.

Divrei Chizuk V’Hisorerus -HaRav Pinchos Friedman

Chizuk for current times – learning is the antidote!

Shiur Halacha L’maysa B’Inyan Hasugya -HaRav Ari Marburger

Case study: homeowner (H) allowed friend (F) to use his apartment over Shabbat. (F) forgot to turn the fridge light off, opened the door on shabbat and then “had to” leave it open all day. When (H) returned a few days later the fridge was broken and all the food spoiled. Does (F) owe for the food? For the fridge?

It’s complex but I’m pretty sure I can guess voz gott zogt!

Chumash Shiur-HaRav Shraga Kallus

Individuals can have a great impact on their community.

Shiur Halacha L’masya-HaRav Asher Weiss

Studies in meita machmat mlacha. What is the reason for this exception? How is it defined? How sure must one be of the cause of death? Practical guidance provided.

Shiur Halacha-HaRav Nissan Kaplan

Lomdus on is there a chiyuv of shmira or just a requirement to pay (mazik)? Specific applications if someone asks you to watch their suitcase – best advice – don’t pick it up or just say you’re only watching it for a limited time. What are the applications for house sitting?

Siyum Meseches Bava Kama and Seudas Mitzvah Hadran – HaRav Benzion Ezrachi

The siyum sponsor gives his thoughts on the current situation. The rosh yeshiva’s son reminisces about the rosh yeshiva.

Divrei Chizuk Umisped-לזכר נשמת הגאון הרב ברוך מרדכי אזרחי זצ”ל וקדושי עמינו שנרצחו ביום שמיני עצרת תשפ”ד-HaRav Uri Deutsch

Ameilut btorah is the antidote to hergel (habituation).

Shiur Halacha L’maysa B’Inyan Hasugya-HaRav Chaim Meir Roth

Being a shoel comes with rights and obligations. How do these translate in a case of borrowing without permission? Can one become a gazlan without an act of gezel? It’s complex.

Shiur-HaRav Yosef Chevroni

All of todays’ events were foreseen by chazal. We can defeat yishmael through tfila felt for HKBH’s sake.

Shiur Iyun-HaRav Meir Tzvi Spitzer

Case of a borrowed sefer torah which was burnt on 10/7. Is it considered meita machmat mlacha? Is there a ptur based on mitzovt lav leihanot nitnu?

Divrei Chizuk-HaRav Yosef Weinberg

Chizuk with emphasis on the power of torah and tfila.

Iyunim & Case Studies ~ Halacha L’Maysa-HaRav Dov Kahan,HaRav Ari Marburger,HaRav Chaim Meir Roth

Meita machmat mlahca and baalav imo definitions plus panel discussion of applications including: lending a pen for less than a shava pruta’s work, borrowed car and found later that it had no registration, shul gabbai assisting kablan putting up shul sukka and broke some boards, talmid borrowed rebbi’s car over beib hazmanim, rebbi confiscated borrowed iphone, and agudah speakers stuck in israel.

Chazaras HaShiur-HaRav Shlomo Cynamon

Heavy duty lomdus concerning kum leih bdraba minei when applied to shaat onsin or shaat hatchalat shmira.

Pidyon Petter Chamor-HaRav Binyamin Finkel, Mashgiach,HaRav Abba Brudny,HaRav Gamliel Rabinowitz,

Chizuk for current times including peter chamor in honor of Reuven Wolf. I’m not sure the donkey and the lamb were quite as into it as the other participants but I did detect a wry wink by the donkey in appreciation of the outfitting for the occasion (then again, perhaps like me, they didn’t understand the Yiddish?)

Shiur Halacha-HaRav Shraga Kallus

Applications of laws of shmira: jewelry partnership where one partner was tricked into letting a necklace be taken out of the shop, shliach to buy a book and then loses it, and selling/giving away challah when original sales situation changes.

Shiur Iyun- English-HaRav Moshe Aharon Friedman

Poskim use their understanding of the underlying logic of baalav imo to determine halacha in edge cases. Doe balav imo only affect tashlumim or does it mean you’re no longer considered a shomer?

Chumash Shiur-HaRav Mordechai Carlebach

Understanding adar rishon and sheini with regard to taanit.

Chazaras HaShiur-HaRav Shlomo Cynamon

Ruvain has two cows of Shimon’s, one borrowed and one rented. One dies, they disagree on which it is. What happens next?

Shiur & Divrei Neilah-HaRav Chaim Mordechai Ausband

Does a shomer sachar have a chiyuv to watch the object or to pay if it’s lost? (me-is the stock market a form of ownership or a sophisticated casino?
