The Weekly Takes

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

A roundup of many of the editorials and op-eds in US Jewish weeklies.

  • Jessica Montell of B’tzelem takes a contrarian view and says that despite Goldstone’s retraction there are humanitarian concerns (Forward)

  • Poland needs to properly address issues of property stolen during the Holocaust (Jewish Week). 65 years later?!
  • R. Brad Hirschfield offers Passover words of inspiration (Jewish Week)
  • Gary Rosenblatt says Israel must act toward peace before Palestinians declare a state (Jewish Week). Dr. Gilbert Kahn agrees (NJJN)

  • Against NY’s new TAP funding to yeshivas (Forward). I agree with the sentiment but would this create an incentive for illegal aliens to have children?

  • Against American pressure on Israel to respond “with caution” to terrorism (Jewish Press)
  • Federation’s troubling generosity to left-wing activists (Jewish Press)

    1. “We need substantive discussion of Israel policies in 2012 campaign (Jewish Week). I think that will only drive Democrats left and Republicans right.”

The last thing in the world that Israel needs is a discussion of its policies in the US and a fortiori in a political campaign.

    2. ” If Rev. King were alive today, would he be concerned with the impact on small business owners? ”

How much net income does one have before one ceases to be a small business owner?

    3. “•Against NY’s new TAP funding to yeshivas (Forward). I agree with the sentiment but would this create an incentive for illegal aliens to have children?”

Huh? (Or am I missing a joke.)
