Agudah-Hilchos Bein HaMeitzarim Special

HaRav Shraga Kallus: Wednesday 6/30/21-
Zecher lchurban applications including: Leaving a bare ama (each room, shul, store, rental, where to place?); Leaving something out at a meal; and Music (avoid).
Interesting thought—how many times do chazal use the language of assur where they don’t mean it literally.
HaRav Asher Weiss: Sunday 6/27/21-
Fasts (communal and individual) come in four flavors—tshuva [Rambam says all have this element], ritzui, aveilut and zecher (e.g., Taanit bechorim).  Renewal and atonement are important themes/triggers.
HaRav Mordechai Ausband: Tuesday 6/29/21-
Analysis of the nature (chiyuv?) of Tisha Bav and the other churban fasts under various conditions (e.g., relative freedom).  Implications include what to do when they fall out on Shabbat.
They will all eventually be Yamim Tovim.
HaRav Simcha Bunim Londinsky: Thursday 7/1/21-
The reason we want to avoid saying shechiyanu during the three weeks is we don’t want to say lazman hazeh when it’s a sad time.  Mostly a discussion of the limits on music during the year and the three weeks (e.g., wine, gatherings, and instruments.)

HaRav Pinchos Friedman: Sunday 7/4/21-
How can binyan beit hamik dash be a mitzvah for us if HKB”H will build the third beit hamikdash?  Includes a technical discussion concerning process vs. result based mitzvot. Maybe we do it by our learning mitzvoth causing HKB”H to build it?

HaRav Asher Weiss: Sunday 7/4/21-
Fasts may have elements of aveilut but they’re always about tshuva.  Were all four equal to start and then tisha bav was made more stringent or were the other three made more lenient?  Some interesting implications discussed.
HaRav Don Blumberg: Monday 7/5/21–
Tisha bav is a day of tshuva and aveilut.
HaRav Meir Tzvi Spitzer: Tuesday 7/6/21-
Some of tisha bav’s rules are aveilut based and some are taanit based, thus there may be different applications in different circumstances.
HaRav Shraga Kallus: Wednesday 7/7/21-
Kotel rules including: Treat the area as a beit knesset; Tearing rules; What parts of the beit mikdash are we talking about?; Touching the wall; and Surveillance videos.
HaRav Asher Weiss: Sunday 7/11/21-
When Shabbat is erev tisha bav, what’s the deal with afternoon meals and torah learning?
HaRav Refoel Kahn: Tuesday 7/13/21-
Havdala when erev Tisha Bav falls out on Shabbat may be grounded in a more general issue of whether havdalah after motzai Shabbat is tashlumin or the real McCoy.
HaRav Yehoshua Goldstein: Thursday 7/15/21-
Is not learning on tisha bav due to feeling joy or avoiding distraction?  Is there a chiyuv talmud torah?  Can one learn permissible topics biyun or any topic through hirhur?
HaRav Shraga Kallus: Wednesday 7/14/21-
Implications of tisha bav falling out on Sunday—there’s no shavua shechal bo.   Related topics include: Afternoon eating; Touring;; Prefast Prophylactics; Talmud Torah; Tfila and Shmoozing.
