Pretty good PR. Nothing has actually happened and already it’s a story! My prediction: if this shul actually happens, not it but the next one will quickly become completely egalitarian. A shul whose rabbi doesn’t count for a minyan cannot be sustained long term. It doesn’t make sense. But the first such shul might hold out for longer in order to prove a point.

Rabbi Gil Student is the Editor of TorahMusings.com, a leading website on Orthodox Jewish scholarly subjects, and the Book Editor of the Orthodox Union’s Jewish Action magazine.
