Rabbi Gil Student is the Editor of TorahMusings.com, a leading website on Orthodox Jewish scholarly subjects, and the Book Editor of the Orthodox Union’s Jewish Action magazine.   1. What are the guidelines for what amount of knas would be acceptable? Wouldn’t the facts of the case decide that. Depending on how egregious the withholding of payment was I could see ample punitive reasons for that amount. And if is there was an interest rate on the payment it could very easily be twice that amount if there is delinquency in payment
