Reminds me of a funny event when I was in the kollel in YU almost 20 years ago. At the time, there was a major dispute about brain death (as there still is). R. Aharon Soloveichik and R. Herschel Schachter were against it, as was R. Immanuel Jakobowitz, then Chief Rabbi of the UK. When Jakobowitz was made a lord, R. Schachter jokingly went around saying, “Now I know I’m right. I have the Lord on my side!”
