About Gil Student

Rabbi Gil Student is the Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of TorahMusings.com, a leading website on Orthodox Jewish scholarly subjects, and the Book Editor of the Orthodox Union’s Jewish Action magazine.     I recall R NI Oelbaum being asked whether Mother’s Day and Father’s Day were examples of Minhagei Shtus. R Oelbaum responded by noting that Kibud Av V’Em was a constant Mitzvah!

    Yes but not because of the concept but imho because of the NIH (not invented here) nature.

    Another dreadfully lost opportunity by the local Rabbinic leadership. Pity. A full day on Jewish parenting and not a word about 35% single parenthood and divorced parenthood issues. Shhhh, perhaps it will all just quietly go away….
